“As a company focused on sustainability, it became clear to us from the outset that we had to act in a socially responsible fashion in India.
Together with representatives of the state of Andhra Pradesh, we came to the conclusion that we could help most effectively by establishing dialysis centers.”
Rajiv Aarogyasri, a government initiated health insurance scheme (working on a public-private partnership model) running in Andhra Pradesh is providing cashless treatment to almost 90 percent of the state population. Use of ICT s for monitoring the project has been a huge success and the enthusiasm of the government can be observed by its consistently growing financial allocations.
Andhra Pradesh state has a population of 84.5 mio & of which 64.5 mio population were being identified as beneficiaries of the Insurance Scheme.
Having understood need for public intervention in order to enhance access to dialysis care and to bridge existing gap in demand supply and additionally addressing need to manage the dialysis centers efficiently Government of Andhra Pradesh has started innovative public private partnership for MHD treatments. The project was started on BOOT model [ Build , Own, Operate and Transfer model] and awarded to B Braun Medical India through tendering process.
Having established 18 centers , this unique healthcare delivery system reform experiment has gained tremendous popularity and created WIN – WIN situation for all the stake holders of this project including end customer of any healthcare product, i.e. Patient. The project is viewed as sensible application of management theory called as “Bottom Of Pyramid”
